*Paola Movalli is Senior Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of Ecology, University of Palermo, Italy, and was previously Senior Marie Curie Fellow at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Monks Wood, UK. Both fellowships have focused on ecotoxicology of raptors. She conceived and convened the Scopello workshop on monitoring for and with raptors in Europe in 2006 and coordinates the raptor monitoring network that emerged from this workshop. She holds a PhD in Food and Environmental Toxicology and has worked principally on environmental toxicology, in particular, contaminants in birds and fish. **Guy Duke was Principal Administrator of Biodiversity Policy at the Directorate General (DG) for Environment, European Commission, from 2002 to 2007. In this capacity, he was the architect of the 2006 European Union biodiversity policy “Halting the Loss of Biodiversity by 2010—and Beyond: Sustaining Ecosystem Services for Human Well-being.” He was also research correspondent for DG Environment in matters relating to biodiversity, and he was involved in framing biodiversity elements of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research. ***Daniel Osborn is the UK Natural Environment Research Council's (NERC) Strategic Partnerships Broker, Science to Policy and Public Sector Liaison, in which capacity he develops dialogue with and links to NERC's stakeholders. He has directed, coordinated, and originated a range of NERC research programs and worked in government on pollution control legislation and other policy areas. He aims to foster iterations among science, policy, and environmental management. He is Deputy Chair of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides and chairs the British Ecological Society's Public and Policy Committee. He is currently contributing to the planning and development phases of “Living with Environmental Change” and to NERC's growing emphasis on knowledge exchange.
